The title of the fake book that the MC suggests— 《About my fake eunuch and palace maid sleeping together, and me catching them in bed!》 —is so meta that I had to read it twice. It sounds like a web novel title itself, which is a fun little joke for readers familiar with the genre. It also shows that the MC still has a modern sense of humor and treats her situation like a show. That keeps the tone light even when death is on the line.
I love how the author managed to weave cultivation realm systems into the narrative without info-dumping too hard. The quick breakdown of the realms – from Earth Immortal to Mixed Yuan Limitless – was handled in a short, digestible mention. It doesn’t slow the action down. But for someone who doesn’t know Chinese cultivation realms well, it might be a little confusing. Still, I appreciate that the author added it as a note rather than forcing a long lecture into the conversation.
The dramatic irony is agonizing. The police, the public, the patients all think the medicine is fake. But the reader *knows* it’s the best cure in the world. Watching them throw away their only chance at survival while celebrating the arrest is painful in the best way.
The combat scenes are well-paced and visual. The first fight with the Borgles was a great introduction to their teamwork. I liked how Euc immediately took charge, using his Lantern of Insight for trap detection and explaining his strategy. It establishes him as the leader and teacher figure right away. The fight on the stairs with the Death Miners was even better, showing off Rein's powerful cleric magic and their need to protect her.
