The little hints about the divine venerable’s tribulation—“kill immortals who block him, slay demons who obstruct him”—sound epic. If that’s the future, then the current Xi Xuan Shang is a total deception. I’m excited to see his fall or rise into cruelty.
I’m worried the story might lean too hard into the "strong soldier protects weak wife" trope without giving Su Li agency. So far, she's mostly reactive—being chosen, being threatened, being protected. The mention that her father was a general suggests she might have her own skills or knowledge. I hope she gets a moment to save Ling Chuan or use her own wits.
2 The revenge target – Yang Liancheng – looks like he’s just chilling after the murder, unaware that his victim is back and already killed his cousin. That’s the kind of dramatic irony I eat up. The reader knows the storm is coming, but the villain is preparing his birthday party. It builds anticipation nicely for the big showdown.
I wish we got more backstory on Jiang Hao’s past life. He mentions friends and enemies, but we don’t know what happened. That’s fine for now, but I hope we get flashbacks later. It would explain why he’s so driven.
I love the countdown timer as a framing device. Starting off with the apocalypse seven days away skips all the boring denial and “is this real” hand-wringing. He immediately believes the panel and starts blowing his inheritance on pork and beef – immediately sold on the premise.
The confrontation scene where Song Hexiu punches his brothers felt earned. He's been a pushover for years, supporting everyone, and finally he snaps. The line "I have supported them for fifteen years. Including their children, I've supported them longer than you have." That hit hard. Good character moment.
