The Zheng family’s arrogance is so incredibly infuriating, but it’s also very well written. Lady Li’s speech about how punishing a commoner is no big deal is the kind of entitlement that makes you want to punch a character through the page. The old Madam is smoother about it, but they both see the physician as a tool to be bought. The way they balk at giving back the stolen goods (fertile land, refugees, a daughter) is a perfect example of noble hypocrisy. They fund their luxury on theft and oppression, but the minute someone asks them to return the spoils, they look offended. I loved seeing Fenghuang call them out on it. It sets up the moral conflict of the novel perfectly: the established vs. the dispossessed. I hope the male lead steals everything from them.
1 I honestly didn’t expect a scene where she pulls out shampoo and body wash from her space. The reveal of her being from the 25th century with superpowers and a storage space? That’s a huge shift from the gritty survival tone. I didn’t hate it—it explains her competence—but it does make her feel a bit more like a “chosen one” than a scrappy underdog.
I like how Su Hong thinks clearly, even though he's been through deaths in the simulator multiple times. Most protagonists would be panicking or crying over doom, but he's just like, "Let's take control, start the simulation." The guy's got real resolve, and it makes the story more about strategy than whining.
The parody of the "Dark/Male Lead watching from inside the FL" trope is fantastic. Where he overhears righteous path information from inside her body. The author calling it "a cultivation version of Wang Baochuan and Ximen Qing" is a perfect roast. The author definitely reads a lot of this trash and decided to make something chaotic out of it.
The panel system with attributes and skills is pretty straightforward, but I like that it only seems to work through reflection. It adds a mystical element—like Xia Nan has to truly see himself to understand his growth. The skill level at 99/100 is such a tease, and I really want to see what lv5 does.
