The dialogue feels natural for the most part. Sandrea’s outbursts, Eld’s calm replies, Derry’s casual check-ins with his cousin. Nobody talks like they’re reading a script. It keeps the story grounded even when magic swords and fireballs are involved.
The scene where Old Madam orders Wen Jiayue to give the baby to the wet nurse and then slaps Ruyi is really hard to read. The violence against a servant like that is unfortunately realistic for the setting. But Wen Jiayue immediately helps Ruyi apply medicine, which shows her kindness. The contrast between the old madam’s cruelty and Wen Jiayue’s care for her maid highlights the kind of person the mc is. It makes me want to see her take control of the household and put that old tyrant in her place.
