Ning Shi’s plan to make Yuan Ziyou marry her nephew and take a big dowry is so sneaky. She’s already thinking long-term about how to get rid of her and benefit her own branch. And Yuan Zitong’s jealousy over Huo Xifei – the guy didn’t even look at her! It’s one-sided obsession, but she’s willing to kill for it. That makes her dangerous. But also, the fact that Huo Xifei has been visiting the grandmother for three years and Zitong has been throwing herself at him with no success shows he’s loyal to Yuan Ziyou. That gives me hope for the relationship this time.
“Look, this is the empire I ruled!” Talking to himself in his inventory space about his organized stacks of pork. What a great moment of megalomania. You can already see the seeds of the Zombie King personality sprouting. He is loving this.
2 I appreciate that the author doesn't over-explain the special abilities. The whip, the shield, the memory scan—they just happen. The story trusts the reader to keep up without a ton of exposition dumps. That makes the action scenes snappier and more exciting.
The author did a great job balancing Zhaozhao's cute baby moments with her serious spiritual powers she feels like a real kid but also a capable protagonist.
The whole "bandit vs. knight" thing that Meru keeps doing in her head is honestly the best running joke in this chapter. Every time she has to correct herself from calling them bandits, I can't help but laugh. It really drives home how intimidating this group must look to someone like her, especially compared to what you'd imagine as a proper knight. The captain especially just radiates "I'm about to rob you" energy.
