Now, about the male lead from the ship? I really hope he shows up again. The way he got angry when she tried to leave after the one-night stand? That was hot but also suspicious. His line “part amicably? don’t even think about it” had so much intensity. I feel like he’s hiding a big persona—maybe he’s actually Huo Qingzhou? That would be the perfect twist. I’m definitely putting this on my reading list just to see if he reappears.
The emotional beats are light but present. Ouyang’s shame after being bitten, the relief when Ji Yu helps Qing Luan, the timid girl’s persistent fear. These are handled with a touch of humor, but they still add depth. The moment Ji Yu sits looking wronged and cries “I have a name!” is both funny and slightly endearing. It humanizes the monster.
I'm curious about the overarching plot. The world wasn't supposed to have zombies or ghosts, so where did this Hairy Zombie come from? Is it a one-off mutation, or is something big brewing? That mystery keeps me reading.
Murong Xue bursting into the hospital room with her demands made my blood boil. She’s so entitled, thinking she can walk in and order Ling Yan around like he’s still her simp. The way she tried to get Old Wu fired showed her true colors—she’s petty and vain. I was ready to throw my phone when she mentioned Lin Feng. The fact that she wanted Ling Yan to drop charges and apologize is delusional. I’m glad Ling Yan didn’t roll over this time.
