The part where Lu Ye says “I object!” after breaking open the coffin gave me chills. Perfect timing. The whole hall was being bullied by Pan Yingxiu, and then the dead guy just sits up and shuts it down. Classic dramatic entrance.
1 The "Ancient Jade" turning to dust… that moment was so sudden and vivid. I didn't see that coming. It was the perfect physical manifestation of his old life being erased and his second chance beginning. The description of the "harb-thin crack" spreading like a spiderweb was a great visual. It felt like the end of an era for his past life. Very symbolic.
I’m a little worried about the pacing after the breakthrough. The story spent so much time building up to this moment that I hope the author doesn’t rush through the aftermath. I want to see Ji Haoyuan rebuild the family’s reputation, deal with the Zhangs, and maybe even explore some ancient ruins or something.
Gu Qingyin is such a refreshing protagonist. She’s not this tragic, weepy mother figure who crumbles when she learns her husband is dead and her kids are adults. Instead, she gets pissed off, rolls up her sleeves, and physically beats her son until he listens. That moment where she grabs him by the collar and drags him into the nursery? It’s totally irrational but so in character. She’s hot-headed, impulsive, and a little immature sometimes, but that makes her feel real. She’s not a perfect saintly cultivator—she’s a woman who makes mistakes and throws punches first, asks questions later.
