1 I'm genuinely curious about how the Bai family will react when she eventually returns with Huo Chongxiao and Yue Yunqiao. She's clearly not going to let herself be bullied again, but she's also not in a position to just kill everyone and leave. How is she going to navigate the family politics while also trying to figure out the mirror? That tension is going to be fun to watch.
Zhao Gao’s flattery right after the golden list appears is so in character. “Your Majesty’s virtue surpasses the Three Sovereigns” — dude just wants to suck up even when nobody knows what’s happening. And the way all the officials just go along with calling it an auspicious sign, even though they’re probably terrified, feels really true to court politics. Love how even Ying Zheng buys it for a second before he gets suspicious.
Overall, this section made me feel everything—rage, sadness, satisfaction, hope. The MC’s journey from victim to survivor in just a few pages was so well executed. I’m definitely going to read more of this story. The writing isn’t perfect but the emotional beats hit exactly right.
Overall, this opening hits all the right notes for a transmigration farming story: fish out of water, poverty struggle, community warmth, and a heroine with a hidden edge. The special agent twist gives it freshness. I’m absolutely in the mood to keep reading.
I was really hooked by the opening scene of Chen Wen in the hospital bed, just watching the world through a window and imagining everything he'd never get to do. That deep longing to go outside hit me hard, especially since I've had similar thoughts stuck at home during lockdowns. The way he accepted his death without much anger but just sadness for missed experiences felt painfully real. It set up a strong emotional foundation before the dragon rebirth twist.
The bathtub with pink petals in an old woman’s hovel… that is *fairy tale wrong*. It’s too cozy, too luxurious. You know you are walking into a death trap, but you are so desperate for a clean body and some dignity that you don't care.
