I’m a little surprised the MC didn’t get any Epic or Legendary job just from the system. He ends up with ordinary Summoner, which is mechanically a disadvantage except for the talent. That’s a bit of a gamble for the story. But since the talent is broken, it compensates. Maybe later there will be another job evolution.
The chapter structure feels like a web serial, with cliffhangers at the end of each segment, especially the "Si Shuo's heart suddenly tightened, she closed her eyes tightly" moment when the bag falls. That's a classic cliffhanger technique. It works perfectly in serial format, making you want to read the next installment immediately. The story is clearly formatted for online reading with short bursts of action and dialogue. As a single text compilation, it's still smooth. If reading in parts, you get addicted quickly. I love the pacing of revelations: first the system, then the ceremony, then the fertility theft, then the crippled mate—each chapter provides a new shock. That technique is effective.
The bank and phone buying scene was a bit glossed over. Paperwork just vanishes. But honestly, who wants to read chapters of bureaucracy? The author respects the reader's time and skips to the good part.
The language in this translation flows really well for a Chinese web novel the dialogue feels natural in English especially the imperial commands and the baby talk mix is balanced nicely.
