I am absolutely going to continue reading this story. It's charming, funny, well-paced, and has a protagonist I love rooting for. The cultivation elements are woven naturally into the modern setting, the humor lands almost every time, and the emotional beats—especially around protection and found family—are hitting me right in the chest. This is exactly the kind of story I was in the mood for.
The relationship between Kozō and Tsunade is sweet but also feels a bit one-sided. Tsunade treats him like a pet, and Kozō uses her as cover. I wonder if that dynamic will develop into genuine friendship or just remain convenience. Either way, it’s cute.
2 The writing style is really engaging for an English translation of a xianxia novel. The descriptions are vivid without being overly flowery, the dialogue feels natural and snappy, and the pacing keeps things moving. I didn't find myself skimming at all, which is rare for translated works.
That moment when Jiang Qingyue realizes her clothes from the modern world won't fit her new body hit me hard. She used to have a good figure, now she can't even wear underwear. The struggle with body image after sudden change is real, even if it's played for laughs here. The fact that she has to borrow the original owner's dirty clothes because nothing of hers fits is a small but meaningful detail. It shows the disconnect between her old life and new reality in a very tangible way.
