The power scaling here is whack. Lu Ye’s been in a coma for three years, we’re told he was Spirit Guiding ninth level, and then he just one-shots a Purple Palace Three Refinements elder. I know he has the whole Nine Hells Sword Diagram and the Outer Realm battlefield experience, but it still felt a bit too easy. Maybe show some struggle first?
I wonder how Zhou Yan will deal with the factory canteen competition. Director Wang is clearly antagonistic, and the older sisters hinted at a rivalry. Maybe the noodle shop can undercut them? But with better quality, it could work.
Okay, the Fate Card system is terrifying. I was not expecting a “kill or be killed” card right out of the gate. That’s brutal. It really sets the tone for how merciless this world is. The wooden chest and the three options felt like a monkey’s paw moment. You get a nice gift, but you pay a horrible price. I genuinely felt stressed for Yu Yuan when he saw the Slaughter Card.
This opening scene hooked me right away. The cult leader sitting on her throne talking about giant teabags while the right protector is covered in blood and panicking sets such a fun tone. It's refreshing to have a protagonist who's zero combat power - just pure chaos energy and great lightness skill. I was laughing at Miao Yunyou being carried around like a sack of potatoes. The dynamic between her and the two protectors feels genuine, like they've been dealing with her nonsense for years. Luo Xinglan's line "throw her off the cliff, she's lucky to be alive" was brutal but showed how desperate the situation was. Really strong start.
