I wish there was a bit more description about the ordinary classroom environment. We get that it's hot, the teacher is jumping, but I'd like to see the other classmates' faces, their reactions to Wang Li's answer. The "shattered glass hearts" description is a bit clichéd. More specific visuals would help. However, the writing is efficient – it gets the point across without overdoing details. For a web novel, it's adequate.
Sun Jian's old memories affect him – he feels genuine anger about the ox because of emotional attachment. That transfer of the original body's feelings makes his actions more justified, not just insert-mentality.
I liked the detail about Rhode using spies to know the caravan routes. It shows he’s thorough. The story rewards his preparation. Too many protagonists just stumble into success. Rhode’s success feels earned by his scheming.
The cheat ability feels balanced for now. The "experience points from subordinates" thing sounds OP, but the "Shadow Mage" having its own limitations based on soul power keeps a lid on it. I like that he can't just summon a god right away; he has to work with a slightly better wolfdog. It promises potential without breaking the early game.
1 I love the detail about Yang Nuo calling Dong Qiuwan "Mother" vs. "Mother." The cultural nuance of "old madam" wounding her pride was funny. It's small, but it shows the relationship is playful, not just formal. The fact that a six-year-old negotiates about titles to make his mom happy is adorable. This dynamic is the heart of the story for me.
20. The world-building about the Lin Family and Shilin Pharmacy is sparse but effective. We learn that if you sell herbs privately, you disappear. That’s a terrifying rule. It shows that there are already powerful actors in this world, and Chen Huian can’t just become a big merchant overnight. The taxation system is oppressive, but not unrealistic. I want to know more about the bandits in Ghost Cry Gorge and the Town Guard Bureau. The story hints at larger conflicts ahead, which makes me curious.
The master seems to be a mysterious figure who "doesn't belong here". I wonder about his true origin and the gift he left in her sea of consciousness. Will he reappear? The gift might be crucial later, perhaps unlocking some power or knowledge. The cryptic farewell and the condition that she must find her family first suggests a larger plan. This open thread keeps me interested in the future plot.
