All in all, this is a decent start for a web novel. It has energy, clear tropes, and an emotional core. The writing could be more polished, and the pacing more balanced, but the foundation is there. I’d rate it 6/10 for now, with potential to improve if the author focuses on character development and worldbuilding.
Yi Qianqian waking up with her period in the middle of the night while living with him is so painfully relatable. The panic, the embarrassment, the desperate need for a suitcase... I felt that in my soul. Her yelling at him to get it while threatening to stain his sheets was just perfect.
The confusion of the academy staff and students adds to the immersion. Guards dropping swords, early risers staring in shock, the dining hall going dead silent — the background characters react believably to a noble lady doing 5 kilometer sprints in dawn. It sells the absurdity by showing that yes, this is not normal behavior. We’re laughing with the bystanders.
I like how the story jumps right into the action without a lot of boring setup. One minute he's cleaning his house, the next he's got a system and zombies are everywhere. That opening scene with the car crashes was a nice touch, showing it wasn't just him passing out. It made the apocalypse feel huge and immediate, which got me hooked from the start.
The pacing in the first chapter is a bit rushed in places. We go from the bar to the distribution center to the test room to the simulation very quickly. I would have liked a little more time getting to know Su Ninglong's daily life before the test. How does she spend her days at the bar? What's her relationship with the drunkards she calls friends? The story mentions them but doesn't show them interacting much. That said, I understand that the test is the main event, and the author wants to get to the action. Maybe those details will come later in flashbacks.
I'm really curious about the logic of the divorce letter being filed with the authorities. It feels like a big, bold move that raised the stakes to the max. Shen Weiyang isn't just threatening him privately; she's making it a public scandal that threatens both families. It shows she is willing to burn everything down to get out. It's not a negotiation; it's an exit strategy. She's given herself no way to back down. 1
I am a bit worried the story will try to frame the assault in a romantic light later. The sample gives us Zhijun’s POV, which feels like the author wants me to sympathize with his struggle. I am trying to keep an open mind, but it is a very tricky subject. How the story handles his redemption arc is really going to make or break the novel for me personally.
The planet lord's desperation is kind of palpable. Five hundred years without a kindergarten, the 21st time receiving a principal appointment letter, and finally someone actually shows up. The offer of one million star coins and a hundred years of tax exemption shows how badly they need this. It makes Jiang Yuxi's position here feel important.
