The first-person narrator and protagonist. Born without an Earth Soul, he lacks emotions such as joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure. Raised in a family of corpse stitchers, he learned to sew corpses from his grandfather and practiced on horrifying dolls made of pigskin. He works at a mortuary. When a female corpse arrives in a black coffin, he discovers it was stitched together from multiple bodies. He encounters a ghostly wedding procession that targets the corpse and must use his limited knowledge of rituals to survive. He is driven by the desire to regain his Earth Soul and become normal.
