Chengyun is Sifu’s personal maid, having served her mistress since childhood. She is loyal and deeply concerned about Sifu’s well‑being. She resents the provocations of secondary consort Li Shi and is overjoyed when the Fourth Prince finally stays overnight in the main courtyard. She keeps watch outside the door to give the couple privacy and later shares gossip about the peculiar behaviour of Gege Ruoxi, remarking on her sudden liveliness and the attention she receives from other princes. She hopes for a better life for her mistress and feels relief when Yinzhen does not leave to attend to Li Shi’s pretense of illness.
