Gu Yue is the male protagonist, a handsome and aloof educated youth from Beijing. After a mudslide buries him together with Song Chu, he discovers the other half of her mental laboratory in his own mind. He is intelligent and far-sighted, believing the Gaokao will be reinstated and thus studies high school textbooks. Initially disliking the original Song Chu's aggressive advances, he becomes willing to cooperate with the new Song Chu to understand the mysterious phenomenon. His leg is injured in the accident, requiring rest for half a month, during which Song Chu delivers meals to him in exchange for money and food coupons. He is cautious, rational, and prefers not to owe favors.
