The Imperial Chancellor is the head of the Chancellor's Mansion and the father of Shen Xiangwan and Shen Xiangyue in the story. He is summoned to the palace by the Emperor late at night. He is a political figure loyal to the Emperor. Although not directly appearing in many scenes, he is mentioned in the context of the Chancellor's Mansion and its treatment of the original owner. He is a symbol of the establishment that failed the true daughter.
