Ji Chuan is the protagonist of the story. He was a human who turned into a zombie after being betrayed by his girlfriend Su Wanwan and her lover Liu Hao, who threw him over a wall. As a zombie, he retains his consciousness and discovers his unique Zombie King ability: he can see and consume crystal cores from both zombies and humans to evolve. He gains various abilities (healing, speed, fire, metal control, etc.) and slowly regains human appearance and speech. His main motivation is revenge against Su Wanwan and Liu Hao, but he also protects two women, Gu Yunxi and Lin Lulu. By the end of the extracted portion, he has become nearly indistinguishable from a human and can control zombies.
