Ji Chuan returns to the villa later with two suitcases full of food and water, which he leaves for her. Gu Yunxi, initially convinced he intends to fatten her up before eating her, slowly realizes he means no harm. He brings her more supplies and communicates awkwardly through gestures, eventually writing with an eyebrow pencil. Gu Yunxi tells him her name and confesses she does not seem to have any special ability despite the recent awakening. Ji Chuan sees a golden crystal core inside her head and is puzzled, suspecting she could unlock a powerful ability, but he does not act on it.Driven by the desire to understand crystal cores better, Ji Chuan drives through the city, ignoring the highway dangers because zombies pay him no attention. He then returns to the site of the woman’s death, kills the zombie that had eaten her, retrieves the blue fire‑type crystal core, and consumes it.
