Karl’s father was the previous baron of the Bergman family. He died fighting the Fire Thieves and protecting civilians, killed in the fire that also scarred Karl. He had a reputation for bravery and justice but was considered lacking in piety by the church. He had brought Karl to Signo City and spent most of their savings on Karl’s position as a City Patrol Officer.
