Matt is the mayor of Frost Leaf Town. He resents the arrival of the new lord and plots to have Rhode killed by bandits. He built his house on the hilltop without permission and fails to show proper respect. Rhode uses the bandit informer’s testimony to accuse him of attempted murder. He is tried and sentenced to death by hanging. His property is confiscated.
