Minato is the protagonist and first-person narrator. She is a Japanese girl killed by her father and reincarnated in a fantasy world by a frivolous god, appearing as a small, slender girl with black hair and pale skin, around junior high school age. After being captured by goblins, she discovers she can access an options menu allowing her to change language, difficulty, and minimap display. By lowering the difficulty to Beginner, she gains superhuman strength and speed, enabling her to easily defeat goblins. She has a nervous habit of laughing in stressful situations, a coping mechanism from her traumatic past. She rescues adventurer Latifa from goblins and later encounters a girl suffering from Stone Fever, which sparks a personal mission to help despite her own insecurities. Throughout the story, she navigates the dangers of the new world while grappling with memories of her abusive father and school bullying. Her ability to adjust game-like settings gives her an edge, but she remains cautious and cynical about her second chance at life.
