Old Instructor Zhang is the father of Zhang Zhenniang and a retired military instructor. He tries to protect his daughter from Gao Yanei but is beaten and dies of injuries. After his death, his spirit appears and enters Wang Lun's gourd. His skills, including the Hundred Birds Facing Phoenix Spear and unique hammer techniques, are later transferable.
