Shui Shui’s companion is the person in the car who first notices Ye Feng squatting by the roadside. She points out how skinny he is and says he looks pitiful. This prompts Shui Shui to give him some change. She does not appear again in the story. Her brief role introduces Ye Feng’s initial situation and sets up Shui Shui’s first contact with him.
