Song Jianye is Song Chu's second older brother. He is gluttonous and lazy, often pretending to have a stomachache to sneak back from work and steal food. His mother constantly scolds him for his greed. He occasionally shows a melodramatic side and complains about the favoritism toward his younger sister. He is easily intimidated by his mother and does not dare to openly defy her.
