Su Muqing is the legitimate daughter of the Yuanning Marquis. The Emperor decrees her to marry Prince Gong, but she cries, makes a fuss, and attempts suicide to avoid the marriage. Her father then substitutes her with her half‑sister Su Wanyan. Su Muqing does not appear directly in the story but is the catalyst for the bride‑switching plot and the Emperor’s anger.
