This attendant is one of two servants selected by the Third Madam to serve the Duke in his old age, under the excuse that male attendants are stronger for lifting and supporting the injured master. In the scene where Jiong Ruohua meets the Duke, these two are present and then sent away by the Duke. They are considered part of the Third Madam’s control network, as they limit access, but they follow the Duke’s orders. They are neutral background staff employed to oversee the Duke, but not trusted by the old man nor by Jiang Ruohua. They are dismissed before confidential conversation occurs.
