The medicine girl is a little maidservant in the Duke's Mansion who accidentally bumps into Jiang Ruohua when the latter exits from the Duke’s courtyard. In her panic, she drops a packet of medicinal herbs, which scatter on the ground. She kneels and apologizes, crying that it is medicine for Concubine Yuan, bought with her own savings. She is fearful and anxious, clearly aware of consequences. Jiang Ruohua orders her to get up and sends Hua Chan to help her with the doctor. She represents the lower-level servants suffering under the strict hierarchy, and is shown mercy by the eldest miss.
