A young soldier with childish rosy cheeks but incredible bravery. He is first seen helping Brother Kuang by pulling him out of a snowdrift, only to fall into an ice crevice himself. In his final moments, he throws a black dumpling to Brother Kuang, telling him to kill more enemies for him. Despite being an NPC, his self-sacrifice profoundly affects the players. In subsequent playthroughs, Brother Kuang strives to save him, and Xiao Hu reappears as a determined but vulnerable team member. He clings to life and shows loyalty and tenderness, becoming a symbol of the human cost of the march. His interactions with Brother Kuang and the Old Squad Leader emphasize the bonds forged in extreme hardship.
