Eldest son of Yan Bugui. He is unemployed, too proud to do manual labor like carrying sacks, and dreams of a formal factory job. He spends his days sleeping and wandering, waiting for an opportunity. When he hears from his father about a possible job selling at the steel rolling mill, he becomes excited and hopeful, though wary of previous disappointments.
