Zhao Shi is Lin Yi Nan's paternal grandmother. She was a maidservant in a wealthy family in her youth and later married the retired soldier Lin Xiong. She is fierce, protective of her family, and helps make decisions during the escape, such as refusing to go back for grain and defending Lin Yi Nan against accusations from other villagers.
