Zhou Peiyu is a poor junior at Jingyang University. His parents divorced early and he finances his tuition and living expenses through part-time jobs such as moving bricks on construction sites. He is a member of the Archery Club and owns a powerful compound bow. After rescuing campus belle Zhu Jiajia from suicide, he spends the night with her at a hotel. He later discovers that a drug test he underwent for a syphilis vaccine gives him natural antibodies against the mutated virus that turns people into zombies. During the outbreak, he survives by fighting zombies and protecting fellow survivors.
