The male protagonist of the original novel, son of the village director. He is engaged to the original Du Qingyang but truly loves Yao Lin. Handsome and refined, he is the class monitor and focuses on his studies. He wants to break off the engagement and is disgusted by Du Qingyang’s pursuit, yet he feels unwilling when she actually abandons him. He agrees to return the engagement gifts and later offers Du Qingyang hypocritical advice. He represents the typical “good student” but is seen as scheming and ungrateful by Du Qingyang.
