Zhuang Cheng is the male protagonist, a university student with an obsessive hobby of investigating urban legends and supernatural phenomena. He is driven by a morbid curiosity that makes him prefer dying in a bizarre adventure over a mundane life. Four and a half years ago he awakened a Superpower, becoming a Superpower User himself, though he keeps this secret. He is impulsive and law‑abiding enough to be cautious, yet willing to cross legal lines for the allure of the unknown. After finding the mysterious, blood‑covered girl Ma Zao in an abandoned construction site, he brings her home, hides her from the police, and tries to uncover her secrets. He is introspective, occasionally reckless, and shows a protective side towards Ma Zao despite her dangerous background.
