Qin Sang, once the cherished young miss of the wealthy Qin family, saw her life shatter when her parents were accused of murder and committed suicide, leaving her and her younger brother An Jie to fend for themselves. Destitute and burdened by her brother’s medical expenses, she dropped her pride and worked multiple jobs, including as a bunny girl waitress at a high-end KTV. One night, while serving drinks in VIP Room 888, she came face to face with her former fiancé, Chu Mobai, the heir of the Chu Corporation whom she had abandoned years ago without explanation. Chu Mobai, surrounded by sycophants and his new flame Li Moxie, openly humiliated her. He offered two million to buy her for the night. Qin Sang calmly accepted, enduring his sarcasm and contempt. After a cold and transactional encounter, he tossed her a black card, and she left without a word, returning to her tiny apartment where her sick brother waited.

To support An Jie’s bone marrow transplant, Qin Sang worked days at a mid-tier company in human resources and nights at the KTV. Her world turned further upside down when Chu Mobai was transferred as the new CEO of her company. As her boss, he promoted her to his personal secretary, a position she took only for the tripled salary. He constantly tested her limits, from forcing her to accompany him to banquets to mocking her past. Despite his provocations, Qin Sang remained composed, revealing none of her true feelings. She needed the money too desperately to risk her job. Her colleague Wang Jie’s jealousy and the whispers about her parents’ crimes only hardened her resolve.

One evening at the KTV, a drunken guest harassed Qin Sang. Chu Mobai appeared with bodyguards, broke the man’s wrist, and dragged her away. Instead of gratitude, Qin Sang maintained her distant indifference. He pressed her against the wall and asked if she needed money, then hinted at taking her as his kept woman. She evaded the question, thanking him for his help. Later that week, he took her to a high-end banquet at the Huangcheng Dingsheng club, a place she once frequented as a socialite. There, her cousin Qin Ruo and Li Moxie publicly shamed her for her parents’ crimes. Chu Mobai made no move to defend her, simply watching the spectacle. Li Moxie then tried to humiliate her by offering ten thousand yuan per drink. Qin Sang calmly accepted, downing twelve glasses of liquor without breaking a sweat, draining Li Moxie’s bank card. She turned the tables by handing out business cards for the KTV’s liquor sales, mocking Li Moxie’s reputation for offering herself freely. Chu Mobai finally intervened, ending the farce, but he left without giving Qin Sang a ride. She stood alone at the entrance until he returned, his face dark, and ordered her into his car. He had been waiting for her in the parking lot and had seen drunk men eyeing her at the entrance, which infuriated him.

Every day, Qin Sang balanced her secretary duties, KTV shifts, and hospital visits. Chu Mobai’s presence was a constant reminder of her fall from grace. He enjoyed seeing her squirm, but he also used his power to shield her from the worst dangers. Despite his merciless teasing, a flicker of concern lingered in his gaze. Qin Sang, however, was determined to find the truth behind her parents’ deaths. She suspected foul play far beyond the public narrative. Her brother An Jie was the only light in her darkness, and she would do anything to give him a chance at life. Chu Mobai’s black card might have bought her body, but it would never break her spirit. She was waiting for the day she could clear her family’s name and rebuild her shattered world.

30. Overall, this is a classic, addictive, angsty, and slightly trashy drama. The plot is full of cliches (evil cousins, the "kiss the scars" trope), but the execution and the characters' chemistry make it work. I'm ready for the next chapter. I need to know why she really left him.

2 The drink scene was super atmospheric. A drop of wine on her lip, licking it off, everyone staring... The author knows how to write a visual, flirty moment that makes the reader feel the tension in the room.

2 The "one drink, ten thousand" challenge was set up to humiliate her, but Qin Sang turned it into a payday. She drinks everyone under the table and walks out with over a hundred thousand. That's iconic.
