Huihui is a peculiar child with supernatural abilities, known as a Nine Heavens Spirit Child descended to the mortal realm. She possesses the power to create mud balls that function as medicine, capable of waking a drugged boy or inducing dizziness in adults. Her master sent her down the mountain to find her relatives in Jizhou City, which she interprets as finding an opportunity. Naively trusting five kidnappers who promise to take her to Jizhou, she voluntarily follows them, unaware of their true intentions. The kidnappers also hold other children captive, including Fu Linghao, a boy from Jizhou City who exposes their deceit. Huihui becomes angry upon realizing the kidnappers planned to sell her, not escort her. She attempts to use her mud balls against them but is thrown down before the effect takes hold.Xiao Qing, a woman from Jizhou City, arrives at the ruined temple with guards and kills the weakened kidnappers. She rescues all the children and agrees to take Huihui with her. On the road, Huihui senses a coming landslide and insists they turn back, saving the carriage from disaster. Xiao Qing is astonished and becomes more curious about Huihui's nature. Huihui mentions that her master said she has exceptional talent and was sent down to find her destiny.Xiao Qing takes Huihui to her dowry manor in the southern suburbs to investigate suspicious expenditures. There, she witnesses her husband Ye Huajie and son Ye Zihuan happily playing with another woman. Ye Zihuan, who dislikes Xiao Qing and has known since age three that he is not her biological son, calls the other woman "Mother." Heartbroken, Xiao Qing decides not to confront them and instead returns to the Ye family mansion with Huihui. At the mansion, Old Madam Ye interrogates Xiao Qing about her trip to the manor, visibly anxious whether she discovered the affair. Xiao Qing lies that the road was blocked by a landslide and she never reached the manor. Old Madam Ye calms down but ignores Huihui. Huihui senses the lie and tries to protect Xiao Qing, but Xiao Qing explains the need to respect her mother-in-law.Later, Ye Huajie and Ye Zihuan return home. Ye Zihuan insults Huihui as a dirty girl, and Huihui headbutts him to the ground, calling him an imposter. Xiao Qing intervenes to prevent further violence. Ye Zihuan, enraged, curses Xiao Qing as a bitch. Shocked and hurt, Xiao Qing slaps him. Both sides are left in tension, with Huihui standing by Xiao Qing's side, fiercely loyal despite the hostile environment. Huihui continues to insist that Ye Zihuan is not Sister's real son, further straining relationships.

Overall, this story is a fun mix of cute child protagonist, family drama, and light fantasy. It’s easy to read and the emotional beats hit well. The biggest hook is Huihui’s mysterious background and the mystery around the real son. I’d definitely keep reading to find out if she really is a spirit child.

The cliffhanger at the end of the provided text is frustrating – Huihui attacks the fake son, Xiao Qing slaps him, and he looks at her with hatred. I need to know what happens next! Does the husband come back? Does Huihui’s real identity get revealed?

I’m not sure how I feel about the instant mother-daughter bond between Xiao Qing and Huihui. It happens in like two hours. On one hand, it’s sweet. On the other, a bit unrealistic. But given the magical elements, maybe it’s fate or something.

The translation vibes are strong here – words like “Die Die” for father, “Medicine medicine,” “Brother Blackie.” It’s clearly a Chinese novel translated to English. The language is simple but the story is engaging. Some phrases sound odd but I got used to it.

I love the detail when Huihui covers her mouth with both hands after Fu Linghao shakes his head. It shows she’s been trained to be quiet by her senior brother. That little connection to her past life on the mountain makes her feel more real.

The relationship between Huihui and Fu Linghao is set up but not explored. He wakes up and seems to understand her. I hope he reappears later. Maybe he’s the male lead or an important ally? The way he goes along with her plan is promising.
