Lin Du, a modern emotional blogger who angered herself to death, transmigrates into the frail thirteen-year-old body of a girl in a cultivation novel, given only one day to live by a congenital heart deficiency. The Save the Love-Brain System appears and explains that the cultivation world's Book of Fate has been corrupted by numerous love-struck individuals trapped in toxic relationships. To extend her life, Lin Du must sever these harmful karmic bonds, earning life-extending pills as rewards. The first target is Du Shao, a kind woman whose prewritten fate is to abandon a major sect opportunity to follow her fiancé Li Dong to a minor sect, only to be abandoned after he curries favor with a sect leader's daughter for a Foundation Establishment Pill, then be bullied and die a failed cultivator in obscurity. The story opens during the Central Continent Sect Grand Selection, where crowds gather at the green mountains. Lin Du is pushed into the spirit root testing line. Her pale, slender hand activates the Five Elements spirit sensing device, which spins and bursts into light, revealing a full-value pure ice spiritual root at bone age thirteen, an extremely rare and excellent aptitude. The examiner announces her attributes and gives her a wood talisman, directing her to ascend to the mountain summit. Her weak body struggles, and she collapses on the stone steps, lips purple from lack of oxygen. There she overhears Du Shao and Li Dong debating: Li Dong emotionally manipulates Du Shao into giving up her chance at a major sect to follow him. Lin Du interjects, suggesting Li Dong swear a Heaven and Earth Oath if he truly loves her. The man avoids it, exposing his insincerity. This intervention advances the system's first mission to fifty percent, and Lin Du receives a Qi Nourishing and Depression Relieving Pill. She swallows it dry, and the medicine clears her lungs, allowing her to spontaneously absorb spiritual energy and reach the early Fengchu Realm, an unprecedented feat for a mortal. She spits out old stagnant blood. Her health slightly improves, and she continues the ascent with Du Shao.At the summit, they enter a vast Bagua plaza where numerous sects from the Three Sects, Six Factions, and Ten Gates have set up recruitment platforms. Lin Du is struck by the colorful silks and finery of the cultivators, a stark contrast to her simple green robe. Du Shao comforts her about humble origins. Unbeknownst to them, hidden in the clouds, elders from various sects observe Lin Du and debate her potential. They recognize her pure ice spiritual root but also note her congenital deficiencies, which would require enormous resources to heal. The Jishi Sect offers to cure her, the Supreme Sect claims her, and the demonic monk Wei Zhi tosses her a bag of spirit stones, joking that she is worth a thousand gold. Lin Du accepts them casually.Through the system, Lin Du learns the larger context: this cultivation world contains other major love-struck tragedies—the Eldest Senior Brother whose spiritual bones are dug out by his beloved, the Second Senior Sister who has her unborn child cut out to revive a white moon, the Junior Sister tricked by the Demon Lord into stealing sect treasures then abandoned, and the Master who is sacrificed to the Heavenly Dao after three thousand years of devotion. All these characters are destined for happy endings in the original novel, but their toxic affinities must be broken. Lin Du's ultimate goal is to complete all such missions, stabilize the Book of Fate, and prolong her own life. Drawing on the insight into human nature gained from her emotional blogging career, she begins her journey with Du Shao, using sharp logic to unravel emotional manipulation. The story starts with her first successful intervention, setting the foundation for her path of saving both others and herself in a world of complex relationships.

Overall, I’m really enjoying my time with this story. The protagonist is sharp, the world is vivid, and the premise feels fresh even within a well-trodden genre. I’m invested in seeing Lin Du survive, collect her pills, and maybe find some genuine connections along the way. The tone is playful but has enough weight to keep me engaged. Definitely planning to keep reading.

I’m curious how Lin Du’s gender will play into the wider story. The author mentioned that the cultivation world doesn’t distinguish gender in titles, and Lin Du was mistaken for a boy early on. Will that come up again? Will she use that ambiguity to her advantage in the sect? I hope the story doesn’t just gloss over it, because it feels like a meaningful detail.

The system’s first mission involving Du Shao is a clear example of the kind of toxic relationship dynamic Lin Du is up against. Li Dong asking Du Shao to give up her future for a Foundation Establishment pill for himself is a classic red flag. Lin Du dismantling that by logically explaining how he could find a sect near hers was a great move. It’s not about big emotions, it’s about clear logic.

The fact that Lin Du was an emotional blogger in her past life adds so much context to her behavior. She’s spent years analyzing people’s toxic relationships, so she knows exactly how to spot manipulation and counter it. That background makes her role as a love-brain saver feel natural, not forced. It’s a clever way to give her expertise without it feeling like an info-dump.

The moment Wei Zhi appeared with that teasing laugh and threw a bag of spirit stones felt like a classic cultivation story entrance. He’s clearly powerful and enigmatic, and his immediate interest in Lin Du suggests he’ll be a recurring character. I’m curious about his connection to the Buddhist path and why he’s called a demon monk. That’s a title that promises complexity.

The line “this body is really tough” followed by Lin Du nearly dying from her own bones made me chuckle. It’s so darkly funny. She’s in constant pain, but she’s already at the point where she’s making jokes about it. That resilience is going to be key to her survival, and I respect that she isn’t wallowing in self-pity.
