In the boundless Land of Chaos, Great God Pangu annihilated the Three Thousand Chaos Demon Gods and condensed the Great Dao to perform the feat of Heaven and Earth Creation. His Sky-Opening Axe shattered into the Chaos Bell, Taiji Diagram, and Pangu Banner. As the Profound Yellow Qi from Chaos enveloped the newborn Primordial World, two extra streams of Primordial Qi condensed into the Profound Yellow Bell and the Profound Yellow Ruler, a defensive and a killing supreme treasure. Pangu’s body then decomposed: his blood became the Twelve Ancestral Witches of the Wu Clan, his Nascent Soul transformed into the Three Pure Ones (Taiqing, Shangqing, Yuqing). As he prepared to merge with the Dao, the Chaos Bead, an indestructible treasure he had obtained eons ago and never understood, glowed between his brows, carrying a newly born consciousness—Lin Yu, a modern human who had stumbled upon the bead in an ancient ruin and was brought into this world.

Lin Yu found himself consciousness within the Chaos Bead, watching Pangu’s final moments. The bead could move at his will, but his relief was short-lived. A light in the distant sky turned out to be a meteor shower of broken treasures, and a terrifying giant earthworm burst from a space rift. This was Hongjun, one of the surviving Three Thousand Chaos Demon Gods, whose Demonic God Body had been destroyed by Pangu, forcing him into his main form. Hongjun planned to devour the Primordial World and seize its treasures. He spotted the Chaos Bead and lunged to claim it, along with the fleeing Jade Plate of Creation fragments and the Profound Yellow Ruler. Lin Yu, terrified, controlled the Chaos Bead to flee. To Hongjun’s fury, the Jade Plate and Profound Yellow Ruler swerved and merged into the Chaos Bead instead of being devoured. Hongjun chased Linyu relentlessly across the newly formed world for three days and nights.

Exhausted and cornered, Lin Yu decided to fight. The Chaos Bead, incredibly sturdy, rammed through Hongjun’s hundred-meter-long body, inflicting a grievous wound. Hongjun, already weakened from breaking into the world, retreated and burrowed into the ground. Lin Yu found a secluded mountain peak, which he named Fangyuan Mountain, and established it as his Dao Field, the Fangyuan Dojo. There, he fell into a deep slumber as the Primordial World’s Power of Merit descended upon him, concealing his presence.

After countless years, Lin Yu awakened with a thorough understanding of his circumstances. The Chaos Bead was his true body, and it was the seed of a complete world, capable of evolving into a perfect realm no less than the Primordial World itself. As the bead’s spiritual intelligence, he possessed the merit of world creation, a foundation surpassing all others. The broken disc was half of the Jade Plate of Creation, a supreme treasure, and the ruler was the Profound Yellow Ruler, also called the Heaven Measuring Ruler, a weapon that kills without incurring karma. He also deduced that the giant earthworm was none other than Patriarch Hongjun, a Chaos Demon God who would eventually merge with the nascent Primordial Heavenly Dao for survival. This merger would make Hongjun nearly invincible within the Primordial World, trapping him that realm but granting immense power over Saints.

Lin Yu understood that his only path forward was to rapidly strengthen himself through the Chaos Bead’s innate cultivation method, the Primordial Creation Technique. He needed to achieve two goals: first, to shapeshift and separate his consciousness from the Chaos Bead, allowing him to act independently; second, to cultivate to a level where he could resist Patriarch Hongjun or leave the Primordial World entirely. With a foundation far stronger than Hongjun’s, possessing an entire world seed and the supreme treasures, Lin Yu was confident in his eventual success. He resolved to cultivate silently, waiting for the day he could rival the incarnated Heavenly Dao and secure his own destiny in the vast cosmos.

Overall, after reading this excerpt, I'm invested in Lin Yu's journey. The combination of Chinese mythology, modern humor, and a unique system (the bead as a world seed) stands out among the many cultivation stories I've read. The flaws are there — clunky translation at times, info dumps, rapid pacing — but the core is solid. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes "transmigration into ancient China" or "awakening as a treasure" tropes. The earthworm chase alone is worth the read. Definitely would read the next chapter.

The concept of the Chaos Bead having a complete world within it is a huge hook. It makes Lin Yu a microcosm of Pangu himself. He has his own world to nurture, which could evolve independently from the Primordial World. That opens up so many possibilities: he could create his own creatures, his own rules, even travel with his world. The "Primordial Creation Technique" name gives me high hopes. I'm genuinely excited to see how the author develops this. I just hope the story doesn't stay in info dump mode too long.

I love the moral ambiguity introduced with Hongjun's backstory. He was one of the three thousand demon gods killed by Pangu. He's not inherently evil; he just wants to survive and grow. His plan to devour the Primordial World is villainous, but his reasoning makes sense from a demon god's perspective. When Lin Yu later learns that Hongjun is forced to merge with the Heavenly Dao to avoid death, I actually felt bad for him. It would be interesting if the story eventually makes him a tragic figure rather than a pure antagonist.

The English is generally understandable, but there are some grammatical hiccups like "Heaven forbid! I'm just a bead!" — which is a bit of a mix of formal and informal. Also, "Heaven forbid" feels a bit old-timey for a modern guy. But overall, the narrative flows well. I noticed repeated sentence structures like "This was... that was..." which can get monotonous, but it's not a deal breaker. The thoughts of Lin Yu are consistently in a casual voice, which helps distinguish his perspective from the epic narration.

I find the way Lin Yu accepts his situation refreshing. He goes from panic to "I'm an ancient relic of the Primordial World" pretty quickly, but that feels like a coping mechanism. He's rationalizing his fear. Then when he sleeps for thousands of years and wakes up with knowledge, it's like he's been reborn into this identity. The transition from confused human to determined bead-person is handled with a time skip which papers over the awkward adjustment period. I wish we saw a bit more of his adaptation, but it's okay.

The term "Primordial World" is used a lot, and I like how the author distinguishes between "Chaos" (outside the world) and the "Primordial World" (inside). The Profound Yellow Qi acts as a shield that Hongjun had to break through. That gives the world a sense of being defended. Also, the idea that Hongjun's demon god body was destroyed so he's weak is a good explanation for why Lin Yu can survive against him. Without that, a newborn bead should stand no chance.
