Wu Sisi lives in the shantytown area after the apocalypse, enduring abuse from her adoptive parents Wen Dashan and Liu Ying, who want to exploit her awakening reward for themselves. On the eve of the Awakening Day, strange murmurs in unknown languages begin echoing in her ears. During a scavenging expedition into the ruins, she discovers a nest of Six-Eared Monster young, smashes them, and dips the blood on her adoptive family, knowing the returning mother monster will hunt them. The monster kills Liu Ying and chases the group; Wu Sisi escapes without saving her adoptive father or brother. She later posts online that her whole family is dead. At the awakening ceremony, when her turn arrives, her spiritual energy fails to open normally due to an obstructed Sea of Consciousness. Ancient voices from those murmurs sacrifice something to give her their language and offer to open her Sea of Consciousness with their power, warning it might make her talent different. She agrees. The awakening instrument then displays multiple high-grade talent light clusters: wood, wind, lightning, and finally a special talent beyond S grade, identified as Healing System. However, black smoke emanates from her body, alarming the registrar Yuan Qiu, who throws glutinous rice at her. The lead official Sima Chi confirms the instrument is correct and treats Wu Sisi as a valuable special talent user. Wu Sisi, while feigning depression, deliberately mentions the murmurs to gauge reactions. Later in her spiritual space, she enters a strange temple where the voices give her a beast skin as a gift before she is pushed awake. She absorbs four crystal cores, again emitting black smoke, and Yuan Qiu reflexively throws more glutinous rice. The aircraft carrying the awakeners to the Ability Academy is then attacked by hundreds of Second Tier snipe birds. Sima Chi orders a mechanical bee swarm to distract them, sacrificing the swarm to destroy many birds, but dozens survive and pursue relentlessly. Without other options, Sima Chi decides to lower the aircraft and confront the snipe birds herself, supported by teaching assistant Yuan Qiu and other personnel, while ordering the aircraft to retreat to a safe distance. They are determined to protect the new awakeners, especially Wu Sisi. The aircraft begins its descent as the battle looms.

30. Overall, this is a solid start to a post-apocalyptic cultivation story with a dark heroine. It sets up mystery, action, and a unique power system. The translation has some quirks but doesn’t ruin the experience. I’m invested in Wu Sisi’s journey and want to see how she uses her weird talent. Would recommend to fans of ruthless protagonists and strange awakenings.

2 The apocalyptic world feels both familiar and fresh. The mix of mutated beasts, spiritual consciousness, and federation tech is engaging. The idea of “clearing” ruins but leaving stray monsters is realistic. It makes the world feel dangerous and alive, not just a backdrop.

2 The character of Wu Sisi is what keeps me reading. She’s not whiny despite her tragic past. She’s proactive, clever, and a little vicious. The moment she lied about the murmurs to cover her tracks shows she’s thinking three steps ahead. I love protagonists who play dumb.

2 The writing style is straightforward with some poetic moments like the torches lighting up in the spiritual sea. The translation reads fairly smooth, though occasional phrases feel off (“snapped back to her senses” is used a few times). But overall, it’s easy to binge-read.

2 I have a theory that the murmurs are from an ancient civilization that used sacrifices to survive. The temple and the beast skin might be a skill or a curse. The “special talent” might be a vessel for them. That could lead to a conflict between her will and theirs. Hope the story explores that.

2 The cliffhanger at the end is frustrating because the text cuts off! But based on what we have, the tension is high. The aircraft is under attack, Sima Chi is about to jump out, and we don’t know if Wu Sisi will do something. I really want to read the next chapter.
