Luo Yan is hit by a car and transmigrates into a melodramatic true and false eldest daughter novel, only to be pushed into the water the next second. She struggles ashore and meets her brother Luo Zhao, who looks down at her with schadenfreude. Luo Yan realizes she has transmigrated into a book where her entire family are villains. Her birth mother Pei Shuyu is the vicious female supporting character targeting the female protagonist, her birth father Luo Kuanjing is the villainous male supporting character targeting the male protagonist, and she and Luo Zhao are the control group for the dragon-phoenix twins born to the male and female leads. The male and female leads have a pair of dragon-phoenix twins loved by everyone, while Luo Yan and Luo Zhao are rebellious and troublesome. Their father's three adopted sons are even more terrifying, each more sinister than the last, and the entire family's final fates are death. Luo Yan sneezes and asks Luo Zhao if he is cold, but he bares his teeth dangerously. She immediately backs down and calls him brother. Luo Yan says she did not fall into the water by herself, someone pushed her. Luo Zhao's eyes narrow, and he asks who pushed her. Luo Yan does not know, as the original owner's bad temper had offended many people. Luo Zhao frowns, remembering that in his past life, his sister fell into the water and was found too late, the cold entering her body and causing difficulty conceiving when she grew up. He had been reborn half an hour ago and remembered today was the day she would fall into the water, so he came to save her, but she had already climbed out and said someone pushed her. Luo Yan sneezes again, shivering from the cold, and her vision blurs. She stands on trembling legs but collapses, kneeling in front of Luo Zhao. She grabs his hem and begs him to save her dog life, then faints with her head hitting the ground. A passing maid sees this and shouts that the little prince has killed the little county princess. Luo Zhao twitches his mouth and orders the maid to pick up Luo Yan. The doctor sees Luo Yan, and she is treated promptly but catches a cold due to her young age, though her life is not in danger. In Yun Shen Yuan, the man in the wheelchair, Luo Kuanjing, has a noble face and an arrogant, indifferent expression. He says such trivial matters should not be reported to him. Qiu Yu sighs inwardly, knowing the Prince does not like the Princess Consort or the two children. Pei Shuyu returns from outside the manor laden with goods and is instructing servants to pack items into her private treasury. When Granny Guan tells her the little county princess fell into the water and fainted, Pei Shuyu asks if the doctor saw her and why the servants were not looking after her. Granny Guan says the little county princess caught a cold but is not in mortal danger. Pei Shuyu breathes a sigh of relief and continues directing the servants. Granny Guan persuades her to go see the little county princess, but Pei Shuyu refuses, saying if the Prince is not going, she will not either. Granny Guan feels helpless, knowing the Princess Consort cares but is unwilling to interact with the children. Luo Yan has a high fever for a day and night, and though it subsides, she remains listless. She sits on the threshold with vacant eyes. Luo Zhao kicks her, asking why she has become so quiet. Luo Yan says she is thinking if she has been set up by capital. Luo Zhao touches her forehead, thinking she is talking nonsense. Luo Yan asks if Father King and Mother Consort came while she was sick. Luo Zhao says it is not the first time they have known those two do not care about their lives, and they should pretend they are dead. In his past life, he expected their love but was disappointed; in this life, he does not care at all and even wants to kill them, but he is still young and must rely on them. The servants in Begonia Courtyard are shocked by his rebellious words. Luo Yan jumps up and covers Luo Zhao's mouth, saying he wants to die but not to take her with her. She knows Luo Kuanjing is a ruthless demon who kills without batting an eye. Luo Yan notices a maidservant quietly leaving and feels the sky is falling. Luo Zhao slaps her hand away, saying with Imperial Grandmother here, they would not dare touch them. Luo Yan points out that Imperial Grandmother has gone to Great Guangyin Temple and will not be back until Lunar New Year's Eve. Luo Zhao pauses, having forgotten. Luo Yan narrows her eyes at Luo Zhao, suspecting he might be reborn and blackened. She lies down on the ground, placing her hands on her chest and closing her eyes, saying she is waiting to die. Luo Zhao is confused and asks what she is doing. Luo Yan rolls over and turns her backside to him, saying she is deceased and should not be disturbed. Luo Zhao rolls his eyes, grabs her by the collar, and drags her towards Yun Shen Yuan. Luo Yan does not want to move and lets herself be dragged. Luo Zhao is amused by her shamelessness. Qiu Ye and Qiu Yu are guarding outside the study and see Luo Zhao dragging something. They realize it is the Little County Princess. They salute Luo Zhao and then Luo Yan, who is lying peacefully on the ground. Luo Zhao says he wants to see his father king. Qiu Yu goes inside to announce them. Luo Kuanjing frowns and tells them to come in. Outside, Luo Zhao asks Qiu Yu to carry Luo Yan inside. Qiu Yu asks what is wrong with the county princess. Luo Zhao says she is just lazy. Qiu Yu bends down to pick her up, and she opens one eye, startling him. She sees Qiu Yu and asks if he needs to carry her, then says no, she will walk herself. Luo Zhao pulls her into the study. Luo Yan yells for him to go easy. Luo Zhao calls her a chicken. She retorts by calling him a duck and lists various duck dishes, making herself hungry. She says she wants to eat duck for lunch. Luo Zhao closes his eyes, thinking her brain must be damaged. He turns to Luo Kuanjing and says Luo Yan was pushed into the water and her brain is damaged, so if the culprit is not found, he will not be able to explain to Imperial Grandmother. Luo Kuanjing stares at Luo Zhao with deep eyes, and they face off. Luo Yan cautiously looks at Luo Kuanjing and is stunned by his handsome face. She slides to Luo Kuanjing's feet, kowtows to him, grabs his foot, and shouts that someone wants to kill his darling daughter. Luo Kuanjing's eyelids twitch, and he exudes a chilling aura. Qiu Yu tries to pull her away, but she clings tightly to Luo Kuanjing's foot. Qiu Yu pulls her legs outward, but she holds on with all her might. Luo Kuanjing grips the armrest tightly to avoid falling over. With a pop, Qiu Yu pulls Luo Kuanjing's shoe off along with Luo Yan and falls on his backside. Luo Kuanjing has one foot exposed. Qiu Yu kneels and begs for forgiveness. Luo Yan sits on the ground, looks at Luo Kuanjing's fair and tender foot, and blurts out that his feet are quite fair. Qiu Yu's vision blacks out. Luo Kuanjing utters her name with chilling rage. Luo Yan shifts her gaze from his foot to his eyes, which seem to spit fire. She realizes that in ancient times, feet were considered private parts. She picks up the shoe, kneels by Luo Kuanjing's feet, grabs his lower leg to lift it and put on the shoe, but finds she cannot move it. She tries again but still cannot lift it. She puts the shoe aside, holds her breath, hugs his leg with both hands, and lifts it upwards with a sudden heave, continuing the chaotic scene.

Luo Yan's voice is so distinct and funny, even when she's panicking. When she starts listing all those duck dishes in the middle of a tense moment with her brother, I laughed out loud. It's such a human reaction—getting hungry even when in danger. It really makes her feel like a real person dropped into a ridiculous situation.

I love how this story just throws you right into the chaos. Getting hit by a car and then drowning in a pond all in the first few paragraphs? That's a wild ride. The transmigration setup is so abrupt, but it works because it immediately makes you wonder what's going to happen next. I was hooked from the first line.

The whole family being villains thing is a great twist. It's not just one bad guy; it's everyone, including her and her brother. It makes the stakes so much higher because she has no one to trust. The way she mentally maps out the book plot and realizes her fate is both crushing and hilarious.

I was cracking up at the maid's reaction. She just sees Luo Zhao standing over a fainted, wet Luo Yan and screams that the little prince killed her. It's such a clumsy, realistic mistake that could have led to so much drama. It's a perfect example of how misunderstandings can spiral in these stories.

The parent dynamics are messed up, but also strangely entertaining. Luo Kuanjing and Pei Shuyu are cartoonishly neglectful, but it still hurts. When Luo Yan asks if they visited her during her fever and gets a 'no', that punched me in the gut. It makes you root for the kids so hard.

Luo Zhao is stealing the show for me. He's only ten, but he talks like a bitter old man. The way he curses his parents and shows no fear of his father really makes me suspect he's reborn. That little hint of 'past life' trauma adds so much depth to his character. I can't wait to see his full backstory.
