Yu Bai’s story begins with her brutal death at the hands of her ex-boyfriend Zhao Jia and her enemy Zhou Anan. After being gang-raped and left to die in a cold factory, she learns that her entire family has been destroyed: her mother was forced to drink pesticide, her five brothers all met tragic ends—one disabled and killed, one suicide, one car accident, one wrongful death in prison, and the youngest driven mad by bullying. Overwhelmed by hatred, Yu Bai dies with only one wish: revenge. But instead of oblivion, she wakes up three days earlier, reborn into her past body. Three days after rebirth, while clutching her father’s only relic—a white jade peace charm—Yu Bai is suddenly transported into a strange Siheyuan courtyard. The courtyard has two wooden gates, one east and one west, each hung with red lanterns bearing the characters “Pawnshop.” Before she can understand, the scene shifts to dusk, the east gate opens, and a man named Han Yi appears. Han Yi is an apocalypse survivor, the former second-in-command of a base betrayed by his father-in-law and an illegitimate son. His wife was torn apart by zombies in a trap, and he and his remaining squad are hunted and starving. Seeing the pawnshop, he begs to exchange something for food. He offers a few Level 1 crystal cores, which Yu Bai accepts. She gives him a large amount of food—rice, meat, vegetables, instant noodles—far more than any normal exchange would allow. Han Yi leaves through the east gate, and when he returns to his apocalyptic world, he finds that the key he was given has turned into a faint mark on his wrist, and his teammates believe he awakened a spatial ability. He keeps the secret of the pawnshop as his last trump card.Returning to reality, Yu Bai investigates the peace charm and realizes its value. She recalls her past life: Zhao Jia and Zhou Anan conspired to steal everything from her. Zhao Jia lied that his mother was ill, took all her savings, and then tricked her into selling the peace charm for more money. The thirty thousand she gave him was used by Zhao Jia to pursue Zhou Anan, the CEO’s daughter. When Yu Bai discovered the truth and tried to get her money back, she was ruined by both of them. In this life, she will not repeat those mistakes. She immediately quits her job and takes a bus back to her hometown. At home, she meets her mother Zhou Fengxia and her elder brother Yu Sheng, whose leg was crippled in a construction accident years ago. Over dinner, Yu Bai confesses that her return is due to a nightmare: she dreamed of her father, who warned her that their family would face disaster unless they united, and he gave her a space that can connect to another world. To prove it, she reveals the peace charm mark behind her ear and produces a genuine crystal core from the apocalypse. Yu Sheng tests the crystal core and instantly feels its power: his leg warms, his vision sharpens, and years of cold pain are driven away. The crystal core shrinks slightly, confirming its effect. Yu Bai explains that this space—the pawnshop—can trade with an apocalypse world. She has already made one transaction and obtained crystal cores and other valuables. She intends to use this power to save her family, cure her brother’s leg, and build enough strength to counter the threats from Zhao Jia and the Zhou family. Yu Sheng and Zhou Fengxia are stunned but accept the truth. They realize that this secret must be guarded, but Yu Bai insists that only by working together can they change their fate. The family is now united, and Yu Bai sets her sights on the future: using the pawnshop to trade food and supplies from her world for powerful items from the apocalypse, growing strong enough to protect everyone and exact vengeance on those who destroyed them in her past life.

This story could be categorized as simply "average" at best. The internal logic appears to falter at times, leaving readers grappling with various plot holes that can disrupt the flow of the narrative. Additionally, the strong undercurrent of nationalism often comes off as a convoluted narrative pit, detracting from the overall storytelling experience. While I remain hopeful that the author has a master plan to unite the three distinct timelines or worlds later in the book, I must admit that there has been little to no foreshadowing that would suggest such a development. As it stands, I am left with the nagging feeling that any future resolution of these plot holes will be rushed, perhaps resulting in a chaotic attempt to mend the fabric of the story's time-space continuum. The main character (MC) does exhibit cleverness and a palpable sense of pain, which are compelling traits; however, these attributes are just about the only layers we see in her character thus far. It’s understandable that she is preoccupied with the immediate aftermath of an exceptionally shocking and traumatic conclusion to her past life, yet one cannot help but notice that while her brothers experience significant character growth, the supporting female characters remain disappointingly flat or are depicted in a rather one-dimensional manner. For those brothers who have developed romantic interests, the love interests themselves often feel like mirror images of one another, with only minor adjustments made to their character profiles. This raises questions about the depth and individuality of female characters in the narrative, making it feel as though they were merely engineered to serve the male arcs, rather than being fully realized individuals with their own distinct journeys. In summary, while there are glimmers of potential within the story, particularly with its clever protagonist, the execution falls flat due to inconsistent logic, underdeveloped female characters, and a lack of innovative storytelling that would knit the various timelines and characters into a cohesive and satisfying whole. It remains to be seen whether the author can masterfully weave these elements together in the upcoming chapters, or if we are destined to navigate through a tangled web of unresolved plot lines.

This novel presents an intriguing blend of themes, notably time regression and revenge interwoven with the nuances of slice of life and the trials of a system's supplier. While the revenge arc is developing at a somewhat leisurely pace, it is the heartwarming portrayal of family bonds and their growth in the context of contemporary life that primarily fills the narrative. Readers who dive in expecting a fast-paced revenge saga may be surprised to find a gentler, more wholesome tale replete with moments of tenderness and familial love. One of the standout elements of the story is the relatability of the main character (MC). In contrast to the overly secretive protagonists often found in similar novels, she chooses to confide in her family, providing a refreshing take on the character dynamics. This openness fosters deeper connections and allows for more genuine interactions, which are a joy to witness. Furthermore, the MC's character development is commendable. She demonstrates maturity and careful decision-making, displaying growth by facing her fears, embracing calculated risks, and aspiring toward greater goals. The exploration of apocalyptic and ancient world narratives is equally commendable. Instead of resorting to ruthlessness or following the typical ‘might makes right’ trope, the MC focuses on cultivating win-win situations for the native inhabitants of those worlds, reflecting a more compassionate approach to challenges. However, the novel does not shy away from more controversial themes. A darker thread runs through the story, particularly concerning the traumatic experiences faced by the MC's previous timeline or parallel past self, which includes heinous crimes. This aspect adds depth and complexity to her character, as she navigates the emotional aftermath of such events while striving to forge a better path in her current life. Overall, while readers might find the pacing slower than expected for a revenge-oriented novel, it is the rich character exploration, heartfelt family dynamics, and a unique take on familiar tropes that make this book a compelling read. As the story unfolds, it cleverly balances sweet moments of familial love with the darker undertones of its premise, creating a tapestry of emotions that resonates deeply.

The peace charm turning into a pawnshop space is such a clever twist. I love how it's not just a simple inventory space but an actual shop where transactions happen. The detail with the red lanterns and the east gate gave it this mysterious, otherworldly vibe.

Han Yi's backstory broke my heart. He trusted his father-in-law and got ambushed, lost his wife and teammates. The moment he cried after getting food felt so raw and human. I'm glad he's cautious about revealing the space's secrets, because after that betrayal, it makes total sense.

Yu Bai's decision to go home immediately instead of wasting time on revenge plans shows she learned from her past life. She prioritizes her family over everything, and that's refreshing. Her call to the mom and the way she held back tears was really emotional.
