I wonder why the system didn’t give Yu Sui more info on how to act like a real Alpha. For example, how to fake pheromones. His lack of scent is a huge plot hole already noticed by the characters. That is going to blow up in his face in the next few chapters, I can feel it. The system is being useless again. Just praises and no real help.
The Shadow Devour ability is a game-changer. Turning the bugs into stat points and shadow points gives combat a tangible reward, which is very video game-like but works perfectly for a system-based novel. It also solves the problem of what to do with monster corpses in a clever way. The fact that it recovers mental stamina too is a nice touch.
The text describing the 89‑year lifespan allocation was beautifully written. We see him train, hit minor accomplishments, then stagnate, then have a breakthrough. It felt like reading a mini biography compressed into a few paragraphs. The part where he realizes the fist technique was castrated and couldn't proceed further was a potent worldbuilding hint. I actually felt the weight of those decades. The way the fist intent was born from the center of his brow at the very end was epic.
