1 Ye Heng is intriguing as a character. He's clearly been through some stuff—new and old wounds, separated from teammates, on the verge of collapse. But he still has enough decency to feel guilty about the paper money and go back for it. That says a lot about his character.
Chu You’s backstory about being abandoned at the Royal Hunt grounds is heartbreaking. Being called a jinx and used as a plaything by nobles is cruel. It explains her drive for revenge and why she changed her name to “You” for carefree living.
Jiang Li's explanation of her philosophy about "returning to the wealthy family to live timidly? Don't be ridiculous" really resonates. I hate those stories where the returned daughter grovels for affection. She straight up says she has a mouth and she'll use it. It's bold, and even though some readers might think she's being too aggressive, I totally get it. She spent 20 years being abused and switched, so why should she be sweet and grateful now? That anger feels earned.
The dialogue during the blind date is fantastic. It's sharp, witty, and exposes character flaws instantly. Song Yubi saying she can't do housework because of her manicures, then demanding to manage all the money—it's like watching a car crash in slow motion. You can't look away, but you're also cringing hard.
The Third Princess’s affair with a fake eunuch, a monk, AND a Daoist priest is absolutely wild. Like, girl really has no standards. But what killed me is her forcing the fake eunuch to kneel outside the bed while she hooked up with other dudes. That’s some next-level petty revenge. I don’t condone what she did to the MC, but you have to admit her drama is top-tier entertainment. The gossip system narrator’s tone made it even more hilarious, like a friend whispering tea in your ear.
