One last thought: the description of the luxurious villa at the start of the novel (crystal chandelier, 300 square meters) contrasts sharply with the ancient setting, which makes the transmigration feel more impactful. It's a nice touch that reminds us what the protagonist lost and why he's fighting so hard to survive in this new world.
1 One thing that bugged me slightly: the pacing when they arrived in Green Stone Town dragged a little. The haggling scene was realistic, but it went on for too long. I get that the author wanted to show the economic reality of the cultivation world, but I wanted to skip ahead to secret realm preparation. Still, the detail about spirit stones being used for both currency and cultivation was solid world-building. It just needed to be condensed into fewer paragraphs.
The inventory with slots is limiting, which forces strategic decisions. It adds a management aspect to the survival.
The overall reading experience is like eating fast food – satisfying in the moment but not nutritious. I finished the chapters feeling excited about the power fantasy but also slightly empty. The writing is functional, the characters are archetypes, and the plot is just a vehicle for the system mechanics. But sometimes that's exactly what you need. I stayed up late reading this, unable to put it down. The constant dopamine hits from the rebates and the audience reactions kept me hooked. The chapters move quickly, and the action is straightforward. It's not a literary masterpiece, but it's highly addictive. If you're looking for a mindless escape where the protagonist wins at everything, this delivers. I already want to read the next chapter to see what happens with Lin Paopao and if Duan Yunfeng starts spending offline.
Final thoughts: I’m invested. I want to see Yu Tang grow, heal (literally and emotionally), and maybe teach these beastmen some manners. The potential for drama, romance, and action is all there. As long as the writing stays consistent and the plot doesn’t drag, I’ll keep reading. Especially if the husbands start falling for her one by one.
The tension when Jiang Hao waited for Shen Bingyan to awaken was real. Would she turn into a zombie or become an ally? And then the ice cocoon? I did not expect that. It reminded me of that weird ice lady from some X-Men comics.
