I’m calling it now, the "Zilong" guy is probably Zhao Yun from the Three Kingdoms. The Silver armor, the martial prowess, the name, it's all too perfect. The fact that he can cross a major realm to fight is cool, but I'm more interested in where he came from. Did Jun Tianxiao summon him? Is he a reincarnated hero? This single character moment dropped a huge, intriguing mystery box that I desperately want opened. It’s a great hook for the future.
I have to talk about that “obscure and difficult to understand short rod” bit. The accidental sex toy is such a cheeky moment. It lightens the otherwise serious tone and shows the author has a sense of humor. Shen Han’s reaction—being thick-skinned but still blushing—was perfectly in character. It also confirms that his ability can morph objects in unpredictable ways, which is both exciting and dangerous. I hope the author explores more of these funny accidents before the story gets too heavy.
This is such a fun twist on the standard Shading the Heavens fanfic formula. Instead of just replacing Ye Fan or following him step for step, we get a guy who *knows* the plot and is actively trying to game the system. The opening joke about being the "Ruthless Emperor" because they both read the same book was a solid hook. It immediately establishes a protagonist who is self-aware, a little full of himself, and just smart enough to survive without being annoyingly perfect.
This story is absolutely delightful and filled with charm! It had me in stitches and almost left me gasping from the overwhelming sweetness of the moments portrayed throughout.
Murong Xue’s threat to not talk to Ling Yan anymore if he doesn’t obey her is childish but fitting for her character. She relies on emotional manipulation because she has no real power. When Ling Yan ignores her and focuses on practical matters like deactivating the card, it shows his growth. He’s no longer swayed by empty words. This shift in dynamics makes me anticipate future encounters where she tries other tricks.
The dialogue during the jackal fight is minimal, which is fine. Pang Hong doesn’t shout cool lines. He just focuses. When the wooden farmer gets wrecked, he doesn’t cry—just complains internally. That emotional flatness fits his character: he’s a bit cowardly and practical, not heroic. It’s more realistic than a protagonist who gets attached to their first summon.
Fang Qingxue's first impression is exactly what you'd expect: a cold, beautiful CEO who thinks she's above everyone. Her offer to buy out the marriage with money felt realistic for her character. What surprised me was how quickly the MC agreed. Five million and he's out? That shows his priorities are money over a relationship, which is kinda shallow but also practical for someone who just came from poverty.
The Gale Boots drop from a level 5 Gale Wolf at level 2 – seriously lucky. White quality with only agility +8, but then he blesses it and it becomes red with +20 agility, +5 intelligence, a 10% chance to double movement in combat, and permanently doubles movement out of combat. Effectively perma-sprint when not fighting. That’s a game changer for a mage who normally runs slow. The “Untradeable” tag makes sense because these blessed items are too overpowered to be sold. I love that the game doesn’t force him to wait till level 5; he can wear it immediately. Blessing equipment bypasses level req? That’s another hidden perk.
The monster mystery has layers. Old Stuart died during a prayer for a noble. The original owner died after helping a gentry with a nightmare. Both involve sleep/nightmare. The necklace's previous owner was scared to death by a nightmare. Nightmares seem to be a common thread. There's also the blackened holy water outside the church at sunset — a small but creepy detail. What is this nightmare entity? Can it be linked to the unknown being that gave Mark his skills? Possibly the "Him" in the status is the nightmare being? Speculation is fun.
