The characters like Bjorn, Ivar, and Halfdan are introduced with just enough detail to make them memorable without info dumping. Looking forward to seeing more of them.
The dessert description made me hungry. Macarons and cream puffs. I could almost taste them. Yu Jingmo’s enjoyment feels genuine. She even worried about not being able to finish and having to hide them from Lin Qingchuan. The part where she carried the bag upstairs like a dragon hoarding treasure was funny. It’s a small moment but it shows her playful side. The fact that she later finished them after getting the debt money is a nice little victory meal.
The diary’s last line about “what normal person writes a diary” made me smile. It breaks the fourth wall in a natural way, admitting this is a weird hobby in apocalypse. I appreciate that Lu Xi’an doesn’t glorify his record-keeping—it’s just a survival habit he’s stuck with.
The chapter ends with Chen Yi picking thousands of snakeberries and increasing his stamina cap. But the story cuts away just as he leaves and the snake people emerge. That’s a solid hook. I really want to know what happens when the snake people report this to their deity. Will Chen Yi encounter them soon? The distance to his “same kind” is still far (about 800k steps short), so maybe the next steps will bring him into conflict with these beings. The pace of reveals is well-managed.
