If this is the quality of the first chapter, I’m expecting more power jumps, face slaps, and dungeon raids. The foundation is solid: a wronged MC with a ridiculously overpowered talent. I’ll keep reading to see him crush the brother and expose the stepmother.
On the technical side, the story needs some editing for repetition. For example, “I am now at a large university hospital. This is the hospital where my sister… was admitted four years ago.” The word “hospital” appears many times in a short passage. Also, the phrase “I see” and “I think” are used frequently. These are minor issues but they can be polished. Also, the transition from the hospital to the God world — the sentence “Losing my balance due to the suddenness, I collapsed to the ground. Everything… was a uniform black.” That works. But earlier, the God’s voice first appears as “Shall I grant your wish…?” on the stairs. That moment is cool. Then she talks to him in the black void. The void is a classic “between worlds” space. That’s fine. Overall, the structure is typical but functional. For a first chapter, it sets up the premise and makes us care about the protagonist. That’s the most important job.
I appreciate how the story deals with her being mute. She can only make zombie sounds or write. The writing part was clever – when she writes “I’m not crazy, I’m very smart” and raises an eyebrow. And the nickname “Zhuozhuo” that she writes – that’s a cute detail. It makes the relationship feel personal. But it also creates obstacles – she can’t easily express herself, which adds to her frustration and vulnerability.
Witnessing the protagonist's journey of growth is not only encouraging but also deeply heartwarming and incredibly inspiring. Each step of their development feels like a personal victory, drawing readers into a heartfelt connection with their struggles and triumphs. The way the author meticulously crafts the character’s evolution allows us to experience their challenges as if they were our own, making every moment of success feel uniquely rewarding. Through trials and tribulations, we see the MC's resilience shine, reminding us that perseverance can lead to remarkable change. The emotional highs and lows serve as a testament to human spirit, resonating with anyone who has faced obstacles in their own life. It’s a beautiful experience to share in the MC's journey, from their initial struggles to the eventual mastery of their skills and the realization of their dreams. This growth isn’t just a backdrop; it’s a central theme that enriches the narrative, leaving readers both motivated and hopeful for their own paths ahead. What’s more, the author does a brilliant job of fleshing out supporting characters who play pivotal roles in the MC's development, creating a vibrant world that adds depth to the story. Each interaction, mentor, and rival not only influences the MC's growth but also highlights the importance of community and connection in the journey of self-discovery. All these elements come together to create a truly captivating reading experience that leaves a lasting impact long after the final page is turned.
1 The moment Xiao Chen comforts Xiao Ya about Huzi and Shi Tou being safe, despite obviously worrying himself, showed me he's growing into his role as one of the group's protectors. But when Xiao Ya calls him out by saying "You told me during the day" and implying he was lying to comfort her - that's such a raw, honest moment. Kids see through fake reassurance, and Xiao Ya's wisdom beyond her years makes those interactions feel real.
I need to talk about that Bentley moment. Zhou Songyan driving to Ji Corporation for two days, then seeing Li Mai get into her boss's car, losing control, honking, cutting them off, and then speeding away in a spray of water... Sir, you are not okay. That's not the behavior of someone who's over their ex. That's jealous, possessive, "I still care way too much" behavior. The self-awareness he has – "This was not like him" – shows that Li Mai brings out something irrational in him. He knows he's being crazy, but he can't stop himself. That internal conflict is going to be his undoing, and I'm here for it.
Using the real-time assassination of a top celebrity as the "prophecy" to prove the apocalypse was a master stroke of worldbuilding. It immediately grounds the story in a recognizable entertainment world. Conzy being Qing Jing's idol adds a layer of tragedy—she failed to save her icon in the last life, even though she liked her. Seeing it play out on TV perfectly calibrates the mom to the new reality. Plus, it created a huge commotion in the online world, showing that while the main character is preparing, the rest of the normal world is shaking. It felt very cinematic.
The system 001 is hilarious. It’s so supportive and humanized, praising Bei Shi for using her “retaining soul angina” as an excuse. That moment breaks the tension and gives a darkly comic tone. The system feels like an accomplice rather than a tool. I hope it plays a bigger role later, because the dynamic between a ruthless host and a cheerful system is entertaining.
