Qing Jing, a famous actress, awakens in a hospital after a minor injury, stunned to find she has been reborn to just three months before the apocalypse. Her past life left her a survivor of seven brutal years of cataclysm, memories of starvation and loss still sharp. She resolves to prevent her family’s fate and prepare. After being discharged against medical advice, she first tries to activate her mother’s jade pendant, hoping for a storage space, but fails. She then visits Chen Zhuoxun, the male lead from her recent drama, who had saved her from a sasaeng fan. Inside his hospital room, she interrupts his suicide attempt. Instead of panic, Chen Zhuoxun calmly states the apocalypse is near and he no longer wishes to live. He removes his lifelong ring, smeared with her blood, and bonds the ring to her soul. The ring contains a vast space: an initial 25‑square‑kilometer patch of black land under a clear sky, separated by a meter‑wide stream from an endless void that halts decay for anything stored within. The black land can be farmed, plants grow three times faster, and the space can be upgraded by absorbing antique jade—expanding to 50, 100, and finally 400 square kilometers, each level adding wider water bodies and eventually a small sea and three mountains. Daily access begins at half an hour, eventually reaching three hours. From inside, Qing Jing can move the space at walking speed in the outside world, allowing swift retreat. Chen Zhuoxun gives it to her with no strings attached, then turns away. Qing Jing leaves, but asks the nurse to watch him.

She returns to Jin Yuan Villa, where her mother, Qing Zhi Qiu, waits with their cat Da Qiu and dog Zhui Yun. Overjoyed to see her alive—in the previous life she had found only a corpse—Qing Jing breaks down. She then reveals the truth: the apocalypse will start on her mother’s birthday with a massive, undetected typhoon, followed by relentless rain, earthquakes, acid rain, and eternal night. Her mother is skeptical until a live broadcast shows the assassination of pop star Conzy at her wedding, an event Qing Jing had just predicted. Convinced, the mother‑daughter duo launches a massive preparation campaign. They calculate available funds: two billion in liquid accounts, and about seven to eight billion after liquidating stocks, real estate, and companies. Qing Jing creates a comprehensive supply table, divided into categories: food (staples, instant meals, water, meat, fruits, vegetables, seeds for self‑farming), clothing (practical wear, cold‑weather gear, fabric materials), shelter (reinforced fixtures, building materials, furniture), transportation (off‑road vehicles, boats, a helicopter), medical (medicines, equipment), utilities (energy sources, household goods, tools, weapons), and a special section for their pets. Qing Zhi Qiu uses her business connections to rent a hundred warehouses—including thirty cold‑storage units—and orders custom water tanks. Qing Jing orders shelves and plans to organize the space like a supermarket, relying on her mother to procure goods while she collects them during idle times.

For a secure base, they choose the high‑rise Fanxing complex, built on higher ground. Qing Jing owns the top two floors of one building, so after floodwaters submerge lower levels, those floors will remain safe. The renovation turns the apartment into a fortress: all large glass panels are removed, replaced by concrete walls; windows and doors are reinforced with two layers of bullet‑proof, heat‑insulating glass and rebar frames; three layers of doors—iron, high‑strength steel, and original wood—plus an interior hard insulating rubber door to prevent electric shock when wiring is added later. Stairwells on the sixteenth to eighteenth floors are sealed with multiple doors, and the roof receives extra waterproofing. She also orders custom shelves and a power system, plans cold‑weather gear, and orders seeds for mulberries, cotton, and silkworms to produce raw materials. Weapons are considered: cold weapons from her martial arts contacts, firearms from abroad. At the decoration company, staff are bewildered by the cage‑like design, but Qing Jing knows this fortress will shield her family through the early chaos. As the world outside continues its oblivious routine, she monitors the countdown, her mind still lingering on Chen Zhuoxun—the man who surrendered a priceless space and seems to hold secrets of his own.

The transition from survivor's guilt to building a fortress mindset is perfectly captured in this opening arc. The list is made, the allies are gathered, and the renovations have started. The calm before the storm is set up perfectly. I am extremely excited for the chaos to hit and watch this meticulously laid plan collide with the cruel reality of the apocalypse. This is a fantastic start for this specific niche of the rebirth/survival genre for me. I am genuinely hooked.

One thing the novel does really well is the flow of information. The MC doesn't monologue about the apocalypse for pages when she talks to her mom. She uses a concrete, irrefutable example to prove her point, and then they immediately move to action. This respects the reader's intelligence and keeps the narrative momentum high.

The author's sense of modernity is great. The description of the wedding of the century and the live broadcast feels very media-savvy. It feels like a real event you would see trending on social media. It grounds the fantasy world in a recognizable digital environment, which helps sell the transition into the primitive survival of the apocalypse.

The mention of needing firearms from abroad is another dose of realism. The setting has strict gun laws. Acknowledging this and having a plan for it makes the MC's prep feel grounded and avoids plot armor. The machetes, axes, and other cold weapons from her master/seniors are a smart early investment for the immediate survival phase.

I love that the male lead probably isn’t a typical "strongest returner" character. He is fragile, suicidal, but holds a massive secret and a massive power. The decision to make him a giver rather than a taker is deeply interesting. He is a martyr to his own depression. I am desperate for his point of view to be explored. What in his past broke him so badly?

The author can write some beautiful descriptive prose when needed. The boundary of the space is described perfectly. It shows a sophisticated writing style that balances the practical, spreadsheet-heavy stockpiling chapters perfectly. It gives the story a touch of class.
