I'm honestly impressed by the breadth of supplies she's gathering. Fresh meat, fruits, vegetables from orchards, local specialties, desserts, milk tea. She's not just surviving, she's planning to eat well. The frozen milk tea paired with barbecue visual is going to be iconic.
1 The serf situation is depressing but realistic. Poor vocabulary, limited comprehension, basically living like animals - that's what generations of oppression looks like. Owen's realization that he can't just explain modern concepts to them was a good moment. You can't teach calculus to someone who's never seen numbers.
The worldbuilding around mental power collapse is fascinating. High mental power makes beastmen stronger but also more vulnerable to insectoid toxins, and when they collapse, they degrade into full beast forms and eventually die. It’s a tragic system where the strongest suffer the most. The empire basically abandons them to die in remote prisons. That’s some dark political commentary hidden in a romance fantasy setting, and I appreciate the depth.
Revia seems like a capable mage, but she’s kind of a sidepiece so far. I hope she gets more personality beyond “worried friend” and “the one who transfers control.” The part where she gracefully lands using wind magic while holding her skirt down was cute but also felt like a forced “look, she’s feminine+powerful” moment. I’m keeping my eye on her.
