I want to know if Mos will encounter the “Demonic Creature” from the surface in the sewer. Probably not right now, but maybe the gates extend underground. That would escalate the threat significantly.
1 I think one weak point was how quickly the other two wet nurses were introduced and then basically ignored. Qiuyue and Cuihua have names and faces, but I don’t really know them yet. Qiuyue’s fake smile after turning away hinted at future drama, but Cuihua was just... there. I’m hoping they’ll get more depth later, because right now they feel like plot devices rather than characters. Otherwise, the mansion feels empty despite the cast.
The cold night after the storm was harsh. Yan Yu's lips turning purple and her hands going stiff were good physical details that made the scene feel real. Chen Dian carrying her on his back was a sweet moment, though the line about "carrying the whole world" was a bit cliché. The desperation was palpable, and I was rooting for them to find shelter. The switch from action to survival mode worked well for me.
I’m curious about the “Abyssal Foreign Race” and the “Abyssal Battlefield”. We get hints that Gu Qingfeng fought there for eighteen years, but not much else. The worldbuilding is still shallow. Hopefully as Gu Chen levels up and enters academies, we’ll learn more about the greater conflict.
I appreciate that Cheng Ming isn’t purely good. He charged them ten thousand yuan. He has millions saved in his account. He’s not a saint, he’s a businessman with a golden heart. The betrayal is turning that gold into cold iron and it makes his character arc feel earned.
The conversation with Jiang Mingfeng (the father) shows that Jiang Li is not only emotionally driven but also strategic. She points out that Jiang Nian is a popular actress who could badmouth them and harm the company’s reputation. And that her brother could become a nuisance. She’s ten steps ahead. The father and older brother look like fools for not realizing this. It makes me wonder if Jiang Li has business acumen or if she’s just read the whole book script. Either way, baller move.
The familiar's name being revealed as "Kenzo" when asked, just to screw with the saint, was a perfect deadpan joke. And the old man doesn't correct it. These silent character moments make the trio feel like a weird little family.
